Easter attack PCoI issues stern warnings to former President Maithri & 3 Auxiliary Bishops

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) probing the Easter Sunday terror attacks issued stern warnings to former President Maithripala Sirisena, his private Secretary, and three Auxiliary Bishops of Colombo today.

The PCoI instructed the individuals to avoid making statements to media refuting remarks made by witnesses when testifying before the Commission.

The Commission yesterday issued notice to former President Maithripala Sirisena, his secretary and the three Auxiliary Bishops to appear before the Commission today.

The four individuals were summoned to record statements on recent statements issued to the media allegedly undermining the PCoI.

Maithripala Sirisena’s private Secretary had issued a statement on Sunday (20) claiming that the statement made by former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando to the PCoI was false.

Meanwhile, the three Auxiliary Bishops of Colombo had also issued a statement on the same day condemning MP Harin Fernando’s statement to the PCoI calling on the Commission to investigate if the Archbishop of Colombo was given prior warning of the attacks. (NewsWire)
