The Government has decided to implement decisions taken at the Cost of Living Cabinet Sub-Committee in order to ensure the supplying of food and other essential commodities to the market without any shortage and to control the Cost Of Living within the country.
The decisions taken at the Cabinet Sub Committee have been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers by Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardene.
Accordingly, giving priority for the essential commodities directly affects the fluctuation of Cost Of Living, affecting the stable local manufacturing policy in order to attract more farmers to cultivation, limiting imported items only for the essential purposes, providing fare prices for the farmers produce, creating a mechanism for consumers to purchase local products at reasonable prices and providing high quality seeds for the farmers are among the decisions.
