The Weligama Police have arrested a 22 year- old youth on charges of sexually abusing his 14 year- old younger brother.
The victim, along with his grandmother, had lodged a complaint with the Weligama Police on the incident on Saturday (08).
The teenager has claimed that a physical brawl had broken out between the brothers, with the elder brother severely assaulting him, when he had gone to drink a cup of tea in the morning.
He had further claimed that the assault had taken place as a result of him telling his brother not to touch certain parts of his body.
Further interrogations had revealed that the elder brother had sexually abused the teenager in 2017.
The suspect was arrested based on the orders of the Police Inspector in charge of the Weligama Police Headquarters.
The victim who is a resident of Weligama has been admitted to the hospital for a medical examination.
The Weligama Police will produce the suspect before the Matara Magistrate’s Court. (Newswire)
