Tamil community living standards to be uplifted: Abeygunawardena

Former State Minister Rohitha  Abeygunawardena said that with the support of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, he would seek to improve the living standards of members of the Tamil community who are living in poverty.

He was speaking at a recent meeting of Tamil school heads, teachers, businessmen, politicians, and civil society representatives, which was held at the Kalutara District Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Head Office Auditorium.

 Abeygunawardena said that the first phase of this project would be launched in the Kalutara District if the SLPP were to emerge victorious at the upcoming General Election.   He pledged to set up a national school for Tamil students in the Kalutara District under the same project as well. The former state minister added that for this, he would also ask for support from Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Education Minister Dullas Alahapperuma.

 He also pledged to renovate the Hindu kovils in the district.
