Sri Lankan Cricketer Kusal Janith lends his support for a project to tilth the fallow fields

Champion Motorcycle rider Gayan Sandaruwan and Sri Lankan Cricketer Kusal Perera joined hands with a farmers association about 6 months ago, for a project to tilth about 40 acres of fallow fields.

These fields have now been prepared to grow rice paddy, after renovating the canal bunds and clearance of the weeds grown. The ‘Vap Magula’ ceremony of this project commenced at the auspicious time on the 29th of July morning, with the auspices of Colombo District Secretary Pradeep Yasaratne, Kolonnawa Divisional Secretary M. A. P. Jayakodi and many other officials.

Only organic fertilizer will be used, while the rice paddy type called “MaaWee” will be grown for this project.
