A pregnant woman who was undergoing self-isolation at her residence after completing the mandatory quarantine process has tested positive for COVID-19.
Director of the Chilaw General Hospital Dr. Kapila Mallawarachchi said the patient has been identified as a resident of Arachchikattuwa in Chilaw.
The result of the PCR or COVID-19 test conducted on the woman at the hospital had returned as positive, he said.
The woman is said to have arrived from Dubai and had been placed at the Vavuniya quarantine centre following which she had been placed under self-isolation at her residence.
Dr. Mallawarchchi added that the woman has now been transferred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH). (Newswire)
