Deer antlers, animal parts seized from resort, manager arrested

Eighteen deer antlers and several parts of dead animals at a resort in Nuwara Eliya as exhibits were seized and the resort manager was arrested yesterday by Nuwara Eliya police on a tip off.

The Nuwara Police OIC along with a team of police officers had carried out the raid on the resort.

OIC Chandana Wijesekera said the animal parts were handed over to the Nuwara Eliya Wildlife Office. Eighteen deer antlers, two deer legs, two buffalo antlers, a stock of oyster shells, a python skin and a large number of relaxed butterflies have been seized from the resort, police said.

The resort manager is a resident of Nuwara Eliya. He will be produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate by the Nuwara Eliya Wildlife Officers, police said.
