The Western Provincial Council (WPC) owes the Colombo Municipal Council Rs.300 million, Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake said.
This was stated when she met UNP members and party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Sirikotha party head office yesterday.
In a release issued by the UNP, it was stated that Wickremesinghe instructed the mayor to take immediate action to recover the money and to take legal action in the event they fail to pay it.
He had also advised the mayor to provide immediate relief to three-wheel drivers and the public in the CMC area who had lost their livelihoods due to the COVID-19.
A number of concessions were discussed including the elimination of taxes levied on three-wheel drivers and the removal of parking fees.
