Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne has been appointed the new Commander of Sri Lanka Navy by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The appointment was made to fill the position vacated by the outgoing Navy Chief Admiral Piyal de Silva.
Ulugetenne enlisted in the Sri Lanka Navy in 1985, as an Officer Cadet in the 13th intake, after undergoing basic training at the Naval and Maritime Academy.
