Samagi Jana Balawegaya candidate Wadigamangawa dies in road accident

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) candidate Ashoka Wadigamangawa has died in an accident in Padeniya.

The Police said the former Parliamentarian had died after his vehicle had collided with a small lorry in the Maragasgolla area in Padeniya on the Kurunegala- Puttalam road this afternoon.

The politician is said to have been driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, while it is suspected the vehicle had veered off the road and met with the accident.

The Police said the former Minister had succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the Wariyapola hospital.

Wadigamangawa, who was to contest from the Puttalam District for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya in the upcoming general election, was 68 at the time of his demise. (Newswire)
