No Oscar dreams?

Hollywood star Johnny Depp has taken on many iconic roles over the years in his film career spanning decades. From featuring as Edward Scissorhands to Sweeney Todd, Jack Sparrow and even the Mad Hatter, the actor has stepped into the shoes of many characters and has aced them to perfection.

However, despite the billions his films have raked in, he remains as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars without a single Oscar win. Although nominated three times for his performances in films like ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Baber from Fleet Street’, ‘Finding Neverland’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’, he has never picked up the coveted golden statue. But, according to a report, it seems that the star is not keen on winning an Oscar, and his reason will leave you surprised.

While speaking at a film festival, the actor said that he doesn’t want to win an Academy Award as he didn’t want to have to talk. He went on to add that the idea of winning only means that he is competing with someone and according to him, he wasn’t.

However, he did admit that it was an honour just to be nominated for his performances. The actor, who recently made his Instagram debut, shared his latest post, singing his cover to Bob Dylan’s cult classic ‘The Times They Are A-Changing’.

“Dylan’s song applies to Covid-19, it also, very strongly applies to the life-altering image of George Floyd, forever seared to our brains… For me, it applies to the moment we are in, it applies to the moment they were in in 1963, it applies to everything before and everything since and everything that will be,” he wrote in the caption.

On the work front, he has a long list of projects set to roll out soon, one that is even rumoured to be the sixth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film. PTI
