A suspect with an unauthorized gun was apprehended during a search operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with the Police, at Ismailpuram area in Wanathawilluwa, on June 30.
On information received to the Navy, naval personnel of Northwestern Naval Command in coordination with the Wanathawilluwa Police checked a house at Ismailpuram area in Wanathawilluwa and recovered an unauthorized gun, three ammunition (12 bore) and 400g of lead balls which were hidden there.
Accordingly, a suspect stayed in the house, the gun and gunnery items were taken into custody.
The apprehended suspect is a resident of the same area, aged 35.
Further investigation on the suspect, gun, ammunition and lead balls are conducted by Wanathawilluwa Police.
