Capital punishment should be imposed on drug smugglers and under a Government of the ‘Lotus Bud’ symbol, I will fully dedicate myself to eradicating drugs and the underworld from the country, Gampaha District SLPP candidate Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said.
He said the Good Governance government which ruled the country for the past four and a half years promoted drugs and underworld activities in the country.
Ranatunga was addressing a public rally in Minuwangoda area on Saturday.
He said drugs and underworld activities have become one of the most serious social issues in the country. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has promised to eradicate these menaces from the country.
“Drug smugglers should be given Capital Punishment. Although it is against my religious faith we have to go for such a move. It is my personal preference,” he added.
