GMOA warns of trade union action over political victimization

The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has warned of launching a trade union action after 16 July.

The GMOA said the Association acted as a fearless trade union and came forth to reveal the various malpractices that took place during the tenure of Rajitha Senratne as the Minister of Health.

This action is considered legal and in line with the Trade Union Ordinance of Sri Lanka.

However, disregarding the Trade Union Ordinance the Public Service Commission has raised allegations against the President and members of the GMOA, it said.

The GMOA further said that if the Ministry of Health does not intervene to address the political victimization of an Association that has functioned in line with the law, it will be forced to launch a trade union action in this regard.

If the Ministry of Health fails to address the issue by 16 July the GMOA will launch a trade union action on any one of the following days, it added. (Newswire)
