Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga has returned 4 official vehicles to the Presidential Secretariat including a Mercedes Benz S-600.
In a letter addressed to the President’s secretary P.B. Jayasundera, former President Kumaratunga said the vehicles were returned in a bid to help reduce government costs and to ease the country’s financial difficulties.
Chandrika Kumaratunga pointed out that she had been assigned 12 official vehicles, 09 for her personal and official use, and 03 for her Security Division.
Among the returned vehicles are a Nisan Patrol Jeep, a Mahendra Double Cab, and a Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep.
The former President added that a further 08 vehicles will also be returned to the Presidential Secretariat in the future. (Newswire)
