The United National Party vehemently condemned the statement made by Samagi Jana Balavegaya member Harin Fernando against Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith’s statements during the last presidential election.
A press release issued by the UNP Central Media Unit said the Colombo Archbishop’s service in the aftermath of Easter Sunday carnage must not be forgotten.
The statement: The recent comments by Samagi Jana Balawegaya member, Harin Fernando, regarding the conduct of Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith during the 2019 Presidential Election is a political stunt that the United National Party vehemently condemns.
The service rendered by the Archbishop must not be forgotten, especially his unending support to the government and the country following the Easter Sunday terror attacks in 2019.
The former MPs membership in the United National Party was suspended following his name being included in the SJB’s National List.
