Thondaman Funeral: journalist on duty placed in self isolation

 

An area correspondent for a number of Tamil newspapers in the Dimbula area in Hatton, a close contact of his and a driver were placed in self isolation for 14- days from yesterday (02), Kotagala Public Health Inspector Soundar Ragavan said.

The local journalist had undergone a PCR or COVID-19 test at the Dickoya Base Hospital after showing symptoms of the virus.

The individual had reportedly attended the funeral of late Minister Arumugam Thondam at the latter’s residence in Battaramulla and at the Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) party headquarters as part of reporting duties, Ceylon Today newspaper reported.

The reporter and the two other individuals have now been placed in self isolation at their residences in Dimbula until the report of the first PCR testing is received and the conducting of a second test.
