Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 recovery rate tops 81 percent

The COVID-19 recovery rate in Sri Lanka now stands at 81.54 percent which is much above the Global recovery rate and the second best. Only 313 COVID-19 patients were reported from inside Sri Lanka from ordinary people, the Epidemiology Unit sources said.

According to sources, the Global recovery rate of COVID-19 is 54.21 percent and it is 41.46 percent in the USA which is the lowest among six main COVID-19 affected countries.

The COVID-19 recovery rate of India is 58.59 percent while it is 62.9 percent in Russia. The UK shows the highest recovery rate of 86 percent.

The COVID-19 fatality rate in Sri Lanka is just 0.54 percent and the Global COVID-19 fatality rate is 4.92 percent. The fatality rate in the USA is 4.87 percent. The COVID-19 fatality rate in India is three percent while it is 1.43 percent in Russia. The fatality rate in the UK is 14 percent which is the highest. Sri Lanka had performed 105,105 PCR tests by June 28 from February 18.

Meanwhile, health experts pointed out the importance of following all health guidelines by all to prevent COVID-19. All people and both State and private institutions should strictly follow health guidelines and operational guidelines issued to them by the Health Ministry.
