SLPP candidate seeks vote for unity of nation

A meeting was organised for SLPP Chief Organizer Dehiwela and candidate Danasiri Amaratunga to share his vision with members of the Muslim community in Dehiwela and Ratmalana, on Monday.

Nawaz Mustapha who arranged the meeting emphasized the importance of the victory of Danasiri Amaratunga who shares the visions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Amaratunga who was a former Mayor of Dehiwela explained the vision of both the President and Prime Minister to develop the country economically, wipe out terrorism, and bring about unity amongst all communities in the country.

Amaratunga explained the steps taken by the President to wipe out underworld activities, by bringing such misguided youth into the mainstream economic activities of the country by providing education, training and employment for them.

He also assured the safety and security of all Muslim places of worship and peaceful coexistence of all communities. Amaratunga stressed the importance of the contribution of the Muslim business community in the country.

Ali Sabry and Marjan Faleel Haji who are both on the national list of the SLPP are voices for the Muslim community, Amaratunga said. He said there are a large number of Muslims living in the Dehiwela-Mount Lavinia area. They are professionals and government servants, most of whom are originally from Eastern Province. During the recent war, most Muslim professionals and government servants as well as the business community relocated to the Colombo district.

Amaratunga appealed to the Muslim community to support the SLPP at the upcoming General election and thus ensure unity among the different communities in the country.
