The late Police Constable Sithum Dulitha Yomal Alahapperuma (93666) attached to the State Intelligence Service (SIS) has been posthumously promoted to the post of Police Sergeant with effect from June 14.
Constable Alahapperuma who was involved in foiling the Rs. 7.9 million cash robbery at the Colombo National Hospital (NHSL) on June 9 met with a traffic accident at Thunmulla area on June 11 and succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment s at the NHSL’s ICU on Sunday (14).
Acting IGP C.D. Wickremaratne has approved this promotion to the police officer who died on duty, considering the brave action he committed just a few days before his death.
