Saho ready for widescreen

The common theatre is not Professor Ariyaratne Atugala’s cup of tea. Not so long ago, Professor Ariyaratne Athugala scripted and directed Mahasamayama. Like The Legend of Kung Fu, Mahasamayama too could not fit in any other theatre apart from Nelum Pokuna, as the theatre and theatrical marvels of the play were a profound combination and could not easily be partitioned into being accommodated elsewhere. Mahasamayama was not open to the common man’s wallet – except on a few occasions when the production was ticketed at a nominal fee. Mahasupina, his second production staged at Nelum Pokuna, bears ample testimony to Professor Ariyaratne Atugala’s prowess in juxtaposing the ancient culture with the modernity. His latest endeavour, this time into the widescreen, is Saho (Bro) based on university romance.
