Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said the counting of votes will commence on August 6, the day after the General Election.
This was stated by Deshapriya when he arrived at the Kandy District Secretariat to attend a meeting yesterday (21). District Secretary Tissa Karunaratne and officials of the Kandy District who are involved in the election activities met with the Election Commission Chairman to discuss the particulars of holding the General Election 2020.
Responding to media queries, the Election Commission Chairman noted that arrangements on the number of election officials, the number of polling stations and the cost of the election have not been finalised as yet.
