The Meteorology Department has issued an advisory on strong winds and rough seas which is valid until June 16.
According to the advisory, “Due to the active South-West Monsoon condition, in the next few days, particularly from June 13 to June 15, the wind speed will be (50-60) kmph, gusting up to (60-70) Kmph in the Western and Southern deep and shallow sea areas of the island. The above sea areas will be rough at times.”
According to the Department, the other sea areas around the island can be rough at times as well.
The Department requests the Naval and fishing communities to be vigilant in this regard.
