“Elephant of Vyadhikulam” dead as a result of a clash with another giant

An elephant was found today (20th) morning in a seriously ill state at Upper Borupanwila area in Wilpattu National Park. The officials from Department of Wildlife Conservation had rushed to the place to provide treatment for the giant.

While observing the state of the elephant, it was found that its right ear was wounded, which seems to be a result of a clash with another elephant.

This elephant was known as “the Elephant of Vyadhikulam” and is assumed to be 55-60 years of age.

Despite valiant efforts of Anuradhapura Veterinary Unit, the elephant died later in the evening today.
