The three police officers who had allegedly assaulted an autistic teenager in Aluthgama have been suspended from duty for failing to arrest the teenager, The Sunday Morning Newspaper reported.
“The officers failed to make the arrest. Instead, they had released him upon the father’s arrival. They had neglected their duty to write an entry about the arrest and therefore, they have been suspended,” Police Spokesman SP Jaliya Senaratne told the Newspaper.
He added that an inquiry was in progress and that disciplinary action would be decided thereafter.
