An Air Force Sergeant and two other suspects peddling heroin were arrested by Police on Saturday evening.
The Airman was arrested when he was transporting 100 grams of ‘Heroin’ and 400 grams of Kerala Cannabis in Seeduwa.
The Police Media Division said the suspect airman was attached to Katunayake camp and was a resident in Colombo Road, Katunayake.
The suspect had engaged in drug trafficking on instructions given to him over the phone by one of the inmates in Negombo prison. Police also arrested another two suspects, the wife and her brother. Cannabis weighing a kilo and 830 grams in possession of the suspects was taken in to custody. It was revealed that the suspects had deposited a large share of money in one of the bank accounts belonging to the wife of the Air Force Sergeant.
The suspect Air Force Sergeant was handed over to the Seeduwa Police Station and the suspect was produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
The other two suspects were handed over to the Minuwangoda Police. Investigations into this incident are conducted by the Seeduwa and Minuwangoda Police.
