AG directs acting IGP to record statements from Maithri, Ranil

The Attorney General has directed the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) to record statements from four others of the former government including former President Maithripala Sirisena and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe over the Central Bank bond scam.

The Attorney General’s coordinating officer, State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne told news media that in addition to the former President and former Prime Minister, the Attorney General has issued directions to record statements from Adviser to the former PM Ranil Wickremesinghe, R.Paskaralingam and the former People’s Bank General Manager, Wasantha Kumar.

The AG has directed these guidelines to the acting IGP considering investigations which were carried out based on the recommendations of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry report with regard to the criminal wrongdoings which had occurred during the Treasury Bond issuances between February 2, 2015 to March 31, 2016.
