Eight suspects who were arrested for assaulting to death the 3-wheeler drivers’ association chairman Sunil Jayawardena in Mirihana were remanded till 25 June by Court today.
According to an eye witness the victim was assaulted by the group after he had inquired about a leasing issue of a member of his three-wheel association.
According to an eye witness Sunil Jayawardhana and the three-wheeler driver had arrived at the finance company on Tuesday to secure the release of a seized three-wheeler.
He had then had an argument with the leasing company and posted a Facebook video requesting the authorities to intervene to end the leasing mafia.
He had them returned on Wednesday evening again to the finance company where he was allegedly assaulted by the group of employees of the finance company at around 6.20 pm
