WHO launches official community on Viber for information on COVID-19

WHO Sri Lanka has launched an official Viber Community to share resources and updates; this is an exciting opportunity to join the vibrant Viber community to help ensure Sri Lankans have access to vital and verified information. The WHO Sri Lanka’s Viber Community provides news, updates, and information regarding COVID-19 and more. Community members will receive regular tips on prevention methods and gain easy access to essential resources to keep themselves and their loved ones healthy.

Speaking about the partnership, Anubhav Nayyar Senior Director Rakuten Viber said, “During this pandemic apart from helping people stay connected with their loved ones, we have been actively assisting local and government authorities around the globe to offer our platform to fight misinformation and speculation. Launching the WHO Sri Lanka Viber community is one of our key milestones toward achieving this objective.”

Dr Razia Pendse, WHO Representative to Sri Lanka, stated that “Creating a Viber Community allows us to reach a broader audience. Since community engagement and an all-of-society response is critical to controlling the spread of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka, this initiative is a key part of our response. We hope that the messages disseminated will build solidarity across Sri Lanka so that we can come out of this pandemic stronger, more resilient, and better prepared.”
