Furthermore, Watawala Tea also handed over 200,000 tea bags to the Sri Lanka Navy, to be distributed among Navy personnel. The donation was recently handed over to Commodore K.T.M. Perera, Commanding Officer of Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force and SLNS ‘Lanka’, at the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force Headquarters in Welisara. The donation was a timely initiative by Watawala Tea at a time when several Navy personnel unfortunately contracted COVID-19 during a quarantine mission, which was carried out to help contain the spread of the virus in Sri Lanka. Watawala Tea’s contribution, which comprised of Zesta tea bags and Watawala Haritha tea bags, is intended to provide a familiar source of comfort to all those directly affected by this pandemic as well as brave and selfless healthcare workers who are driving the front-line defence to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka. As a time-tested wellness drink, tea is known to impart numerous benefits to the body’s immune system, and those in the hospitals can indulge in a warm cup of Ceylon tea regularly and easily with the tea bags that were contributed. More than ever, the company remains deeply committed to helping its customers and the broader community deal with the unprecedented medical and economic crisis caused by COVID-19.
