The Natural Hazards Early Warning Center has issued a warning of sever lightening and heavy rain to several provinces, which is valid until 10.30 p.m. today (May 4).
According to the warning, “Thunder showers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western and Uva provinces in the evening or night."
According to the warning, heavy falls above 100 mm are likely at some places as well.
It furthered that, “There may be temporary localized strong windsduring thundershowers. General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.”
