Colombo Air quality index drops as life returns to normalcy

The Air quality index in Colombo fluctuated to around 60 today after weeks of remaining at the minimum of 25 when curfew was imposed in many parts of the country.

60 is considered moderate while anything above 100 is classified as being unhealthy for sensitive groups. Weeks before curfew was imposed in the country, the AQI index in Colombo rose to 160 which is deemed unhealthy.

Experts opine that AQI index may resume to its previous levels owing to the number of vehicles and resumption of work in factories.
