The hidden intention of trying to reconvene the already dissolved old Parliament is getting an act passed in order to contest in upcoming General Election as one political party by the UNP and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Leader, former MP and Attorney-at-law Udaya Gammanpila said.
According to him, these efforts are now being made by the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) because now it is in a very weak position and it will be further weaken if the UNP and SJB contest in the upcoming General Election as two separate political parties. Now it will definitely happen because nominations have been already handed over by the UNP and the SJB and there is no way of turning back.
“But there is a way. It is cancelling the already handed over nominations and handing over nominations once again as one political party (UNP). It can be done only through an Act passed in the Parliament. To do this, the already dissolved old corrupted Parliament which totally destroyed the economy and the National Security of the country pushing Sri Lanka to stand behind Afghanistan during past five years has to be reconvened,” he said.
The only intention of the TNA is saving and strengthening itself by saving and strengthening the United National Party (UNP). This is what stands behind all efforts now being made to reconvene the old Parliament, he added.
