Funeral of the Navy Officer according to Quarantine law

A Navy officer who was receiving treatment in Intensive Care Unit of the Sri LankaNavy General Hospital Colombo has passed away on April 25, 2020 due to Leptospirosis (Rat bite Fever).

The deceased is Dodamwalagedara Sunil Bandara Dodawalawala, a 35-year-oldLieutenant Commander (Volunteer) who was being attached to the Navy Headquarters. He is a resident of Galenbindunuwewa area. He was admitted to the Navy General Hospital Colombo on April 18, 2020 due to illness.

In accordance with the investigations conducted, it has been diagnosed that the patient is suffering from Leptospirosis(Rat bite Fever). According to the investigations conducted in Welisara Navy Camp, due to the spread of Covid 19 virus, the Navy officer was not infected with Covid 19 virus. Accordingly, the officer was died on April 25, 2020 while being treated in the ICU as a result of the Rat bite Fever.

Although the death was not caused by the Covid 19 virus, considering the present situation of Welisara Navy Camp complex, Judicial Medical Officer, Ragama, has recommended the procedure of a Covid19 death, concerning the deceased Navy officer.Accordingly, the funeral will be held in line with the recommendations, with the respect of the Sri Lanka Navy.
