Govt. requests Lankans overseas to remain safe

The President’s Additional Secretary on International Relations Admiral Jayanath Kolambage  appealed to the Sri Lankans residing overseas who wish to return to the country, to remain where they are and be safe until the Coronavirus situation in the country is brought under control. He made this request on behalf of the government.

The government has already taken several measures to prevent the Coronavirus from spreading in the country and with that aim the government has stopped all arrivals from overseas.
Many other countries have also followed these steps and have suspended all travel to and within their countries.

However, the government assured that once the Coronavirus situation in the country is brought under control, the government would consider the request made by students overseas, businessmen and foreign migrant workers.

They were told that it is risky to travel to airports or any other place as they could contract the Coronavirus. Therefore, these overseas Sri Lankans have been asked to get in touch with the Sri Lankan Embassies or Consular General Offices and stay where they are and be safe.
