Vijayakala’s case postponed for July 3


The case filed against former State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran over her controversial statements regarding the LTTE was postponed till July 3 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today.

The Organized Crimes Prevention Division informed the court that the investigations had been completed and the extracts of the investigations had been sent to the Attorney General.

The Organized Crimes Prevention Division further stated that Attorney General’s instructions had not yet been received.

The Magistrate has sent a reminder to the Attorney General directing him to expedite legal advice regarding the case.

Speaking at an event at the Veerasingam Hall in Jaffna on July 2, former State Minister Maheswaran allegedly called for the reorganisation of the outlawed terrorist group LTTE in order to curb the rising crime in the North.
