Daily flights to Chennai from Jaffna

Alliance Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India, will operate daily flights to Chennai (MAA) from the Jaffna International Airport (JAF) from Thursday, February 27, the airline said yesterday.

Alliance Air already operates three flights per week on this sector. The airline, which was restricted to domestic operations in India, expanded wings globally and commenced commercial flight operations from Chennai International Airport to Jaffna International Airport and back from November 11, 2019, days after the latter airport opened for international traffic. Several other Indian airlines have also expressed an interest in operating to Jaffna and Batticaloa (BTC), which has also been upgraded to international status. Moreover, local private carrier Fits Air operates a Colombo Ratmalana (RML)-JAF flight for passengers seeking to connect to the Chennai Alliance Air flights.
