Two thirds majority vital to take country forward - Minister

I request people to give a two thirds majority to the President in Parliament because he has promised to implement all the programmes in his policy statement within next five years, State Minister of Economic and Policy Development W.D.J.Seneviratne said.

Minister Seneviratne said a stable government is required to establish a stable country but sections of 19th Amendment do not allow to achieve this target.

The Government therefore needs a two thirds majority in Parliament to amend the Constitution.

Minister Seneviratne pointed out that the safety of the country and its unitary status should be assured through the Sri Lankan Constitution itself. Therefore the current Constitution needs amendments, he said.

Minister Seneviratne appreciated the service done by late MP Ranjith Zoysa for the country and made a request from the people to support his wife Muditha Zoysa during upcoming General Election.
