Govt to deploy a flight to china

Government has planned to deploy a SriLankan Airlines charter flight to China to bring back 150 local students living in the coronavirus-affected Chengdu City in Sichuan Province within the next 48 hours, Additional Secretary to the President, Admiral Jayanath Colombage said.  
 
This step have been taken following the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to bring back the Sri Lankan students living in Sichuan and Wuhan provinces, China with immediate effect due to the rapid spread of the new Coronavirus in these provinces.
 
Currently, the entry and exit to the Wuhan Province have been banned by the Chinese authorities. However, all arrangements have been made to bring these students back soon after the ban is lifted, the President Media Division (PMD) said.
 
The Sri Lankan Embassy in Beijing has also received information about 30 students residing in Nanning City and they will also be brought back as soon as possible, the PMD said.
