Certain political activists are deceiving youth promising them job to get their votes at the next general elections, Development Banks and Loan Schemes State Minister Shehan Semasinghe said.

He was speaking at a meeting of social media political activists at his residence in Anuradhapura recently.

He said these politicians are distributing job applications among youth and this type of politicians will disrepute the government.

He said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has initiated a proper system to be followed to provide jobs for unemployed youth. But certain politicians distribute applications disregarding the President’s instructions just to get their votes. He said this will mislead young people making them frustrated at the end, he said.

The government is now taking steps to provide jobs for O/L and A/L passed youth and this procedure will be taken transparently. But distributing applications now is not a part of this programme. Its sole purpose is to deceive the youth and take their votes, he said.

Certain political activists use even President’s name in deceiving people. The public should be aware of this trick and inform relevant authorities about these fraudsters, he said.

He said that jobs will be provided for the jobless transparently before long following the instructions of the President and the Prime Minister.
