Two men arrested for teacher appointment con

Two men who took money from a woman saying they will arrange a teacher appointment for her daughter were arrested by the Police yesterday.

Both were arrested in front of the building near Isurupaya as they accepted the woman’s money.

The main suspect in the incident, Nihal Dasanayaka, 47, is said to have convinced the victim in this con that he has close contacts with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Sources in the Colombo Crime Division said Nuwan Jayakody, the second suspect in this operation, appeared as the top brass of the Ministry of Education. Who played the part of touch with Dasanayaka’s Ministry of Education.

Dasanayaka had made Nuwan Joyakody call the woman as it was from the ministry after telling the woman to come with the money, Rs.150,000 in total, in front of the Isurupaya building to close their deal in this game.

“They had presented the woman with a fake letter indicating it was from the Northern Central Province Chief Secretary.

Colombo Crime Division officers arrested them in the act,” Police said.
