Police stations of the Dambulla ASP division conducted search operations on Friday night and 16 suspects have been taken into custody for various offences.
Nine of them had heroin and cannabis with them, while five suspects have court warrants. Other two suspects have been arrested for an assault case and a traffic offence.
They were produced before Dambulla Acting Magistrate Wasantha Ariyarathna on Saturday.
Dambulla, Galewela and Sigiriya police prosecuted.
