NTC Hotline to report loud music in private buses

National Transport Commission have advised passengers to call the NTC Hotline 1955 to lodge their complaints, if private buses play loud music.

Loud music will not be allowed in private buses from January 1, Transport Service Management and Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said.

He said many buses play music pieces in high volume irking commuters.

No private bus can switch on TVs or play loud music from January 1, he said.

The Minister said 16 standard classical songs will be introduced to private bus operators which they can play during their journeys. Several videos will be introduced as well.

A committee of artistes and experts has recommended the songs and TV programs, the Minister said.
