A man and a woman were fined Rs. 65,000 by Ampara Additional Magistrate Hansadeva Samaradivakara for having in their possession illicit liquor.
Bakkiella police have prosecuted the two accused separately. One accused, Somasundaram Yogasiri, was fined Rs. 40,000 for keeping in his possession 3 litres of illicit liquor and the next, Lechchami Pathmanadan, was fined Rs. 25,000 for having in her possession 3.740 litres of illicit liquor.
They were arrested on two occasions on two tip offs, Bakkiella police said.
