A decision regarding the appointment of a new Leader of the House shall be made at the Government Parliamentary Group Meeting which is to be held on January 2.
Minister Dallus Alahapperuma responding to the Daily News said that the decision shall then be communicated to the Speaker of the House prior to the commencement of the Fourth Session of the Eighth Parliament on January 3, 2020.
Minister Alahapperuma observed that the government group meeting is traditionally held prior to the commencement of a Parliament session to discuss on the agenda of the House.
Meanwhile, UNP MP Mujibar Rahuman at a press brief held at Sirikotha yesterday (29) morning said that a decision concerning the position of Chief Opposition Whip shall be made on January 2, at the Opposition Parliamentary Group Meeting.
