President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today said that he has high expectations from India and would like to further strengthen the relations between the two countries.
Rajapaksa who is on a two-day visit to India , arrived in New Delhi yesterday afternoon, Further said that “My expectations are very high, I want to bring the relationship between India and Sri Lanka to a very high level."
He also said both India and Sri Lanka need to work together on issues related to security and overall welfare of the people of the two countries.
Earlier today, He met the external affairs minister S Jaishankar, during a range of bilateral and regional issues was discussed, officials said.
President was given a ceremonial welcome in the morning at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were present on the occasion.
