National security will have highest priority - Gota

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa said the present government which is under the influence of several Non-Governmental Organizations that were campaigning against the humanitarian operation did not prioritize national security. Rajapaksa also said that the government had a Cabinet under the influence of foreign forces.

Rajapaksa also said that a government led by him will give national security the utmost importance. “During our time, we had special units trained on curbing terrorist and extremist uprisings. The military forces, intelligence units and police had a good coordination.

This government which was directly under the influence of several NGOs that campaigned against the humanitarian operation which ended the war, did not give any importance to national security. They used certain military units which were designed to curb terrorism, drug abuse and underworld were used to take revenge on political rivals. A government of ours will completely depoliticize military and intelligence services.” he also said.

Rajapaksa made these observations at a rally held at Wellawaya recently.

He pointed out that his election manifesto is a practical one designed by the country’s intellectuals. “My election manifesto was designed after considering proposals forwarded by intellectuals, professionals and business personals. This manifesto also includes proposals forwarded by Sri Lanka Freedom Party. It includes a number of practical projects which are achievable during my term of office. I would like to promise to complete all the tasks listed in the manifesto during my term.”

Gotabaya Rajapaksa also promised to give jobs to all 54000 graduates who don’t have jobs by next January. He also said as a method to eradicate poverty, each family will be provided with a government job opportunity inconsiderate of their educational levels. “There are many minor jobs in the government sector that does not need educational qualifications. If we can provide jobs to poor families, their living standards will improve.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa requested people to keep their faith in him, just like they trusted Mahinda Rajapaksa to fulfill his duties for the people.
