A 70-year-old man died in a road accident at the 1st Mile Post in the Puttalam-Mannar road on Saturday evening.
The deceased was a resident of Puttalam, police said.
He was crossing the road when a van coming from Puttalam ran over him. The victim was admitted to the Puttalam Hospital where he died.
The van driver was arrested.
Puttalam Police are investigating.
