The suspect who was arrested for assaulting two novice monks has been remanded until September 24 by Padaviya Magistrate Harshana de Alwis.
The suspect; Chaminda Galaboda, alias ‘Utiya’; was arrested for allegedly assaulting two novice monks at a pirivena viharaya in Horowpathana, the Police Media Spokesman’s Office said.
Police had initiated an investigation based on video footage that was circulating in social media and also appearing on several TV channels. The footage showed a man assaulting two novice monks.
