The Police arrested two men who plotted to kidnap an eight year-old daughter of a doctor and his wife in Kalutara for a ransom of Rs.100 million.
Officers from Dodangoda Police station acting on a tip-off had arrested the two suspects yesterday and seized parts of Police uniforms, an air rifle, ammunition, a sword and several knives.
The child had been studying at an international school in Nagoda, Kalutara.
The two suspects aged 40 and 25 are residents of Dodangoda and Kalutara.
Police sources said the suspects had confessed they were planning to carry out the kidnapping on a contract given by a couple in Dodangoda.
